Planning & Development in Cootamundra

The Cootamundra district is renowned for its high agricultural productivity. This ability, together with continued commercial and industrial growth has created a sound economic base.

DEVELOPMENT IN COOTAMUNDRA The Cootamundra Shire comprises an area of 1,525 square kilometres, with a population of approximately 7,564. The town of Cootamundra and villages of Wallendbeen and Stockinbingal are located within the Shire area.

Cootamundra is centrally located between Sydney and Melbourne; less than two (2) hours drive from Canberra and is just off the major road transport route, the Hume Highway. The town is on the main railway line between Sydney and Melbourne. It is the main railway interchange for passenger services in South Western New South Wales and offers an excellent rail service. This is supported by a large network of trucking and bus services to many outlying areas.

Cootamundra Shire offers new industries and new residents: Low land prices, Stable workforce, Central location, Well developed transport infrastructure, Quality lifestyle, and Excellent community services and facilities.

Land and Construction Costs: The Cootamundra 2000 Strategy rated Cootamundra as high - for its low land cost and ready availability of land. Roads into the town's industrial estate are fully sealed and guttered. The road from the industrial estate has good access to the connecting highway routes, and all have full B-Double access.

The Council can also assist in negotiating the purchase of private land if required. The Council is prepared to negotiate on its fully serviced land from its industrial land bank. Enough land is available to accommodate plant and parking needs. Government Incentives and Charges:

The Cootamundra Shire Council and Cootamundra Development Corporation (CDC) work together to support business. There are very strong links with NSW and Federal Government Departments which support business in the Shire. The CDC and Council can facilitate development processes and can assist with access to government assistance. Together they can offer a streamlined process, which offers savings in time and money for new enterprises.
