NOTICE OF PESTICIDE APPLICATION PROGRAM

 

NOXIOUS WEEDS YEARLY PROGRAM

A yearly program and timetable shown below covers the duties in pesticide application of the Cootamundra Shire Council Weeds Inspector on Roadsides. The timetable is flexible to fit in with the seasonal changes and weather conditions.

AUGUST

Ø       Roadside control and inspections for- Wild Radish, Scotch Thistle.

Ø       Fire Breaks for Cootamundra, Stocknbingal and Wallendbeen Waste Depots.

SEPTEMBER

Ø       Roadside control and inspections for- Wild Radish, Scotch Thistle.

Ø       Vegetation control on state and rural road shoulders.

Ø       Fire Breaks for Cootamundra, Stocknbingal and Wallendbeen Waste Depots.

OCTOBER

Ø       Roadside control and inspections for- Wild Radish, Scotch Thistle.

Ø       Continuation of vegetation control on state and rural road shoulders.

Ø       Fire Breaks for Cootamundra, Stocknbingal and Wallendbeen Waste Depots.

NOVEMBER

Ø       Roadside control and inspections for- Wild Radish, Scotch Thistle and St John’s Wort.

Ø       Fire Breaks for Cootamundra, Stocknbingal and Wallendbeen Waste Depots.

DECEMBER

Ø       Roadside control and inspections for- St John’s Wort.

JANUARY

Ø       Roadside control and inspections for- St John’s Wort.                          

FEBRUARY

Ø       Roadside control and inspections for- St John’s Wort.                           

Ø       Roadside control and inspections for- Blackberry, Sweet Briar, Johnson’s Grass and Bathurst Burrs.

MARCH

Ø       Roadside control and inspections for- Blackberry, Sweet Briar, Johnson’s Grass and Parthenium Weed.

APRIL

Ø       Roadside control and inspections for- Horehound, African boxthorn.

MAY

Ø       Roadside control and inspections for- Horehound, African boxthorn.

EMERGENCY PESTICIDE USE

Emergency applications of pesticides in public areas for problems of dangerous insect’s that pose an immediate danger of public health and safety, Council will, where possible, post signs in the vicinity of the application.

In the event of pesticide application in an emergency situation in a sensitive area to control a dangerous pest infestation, the Council will organize a door-knock (in a reasonable amount of time) prior to the application of pesticide. (see notification plan for sensitive areas in pesticide notification plan).
